According to the District Social Welfare Officer in Kargil, there are more than 1950 disabled patients in Kargil district alone. 60% of these patients are orthopedic patients, about 25% of them suffer from hearing impairment and the remaining have other kinds of disabilities.
With a mission to impact the lives of 200 orthopedically and hearing impaired patients, in September 2018, Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust will be distributing Jaipur foot, calipers, crutches, wheelchairs and hearing aids to the identified disabled patients for FREE.
Timeline of the project:
August 2018 – Screening of patients
September 2018 – Manufacturing the appliances
October 2018 – Distributing appliances at Kargil

How the funds will be utilized:
Your contributions will be used to provide mobility appliances such as Jaipur foot, calipers, wheelchairs, and crutches to the orthopedic patients and hearing aids to the patients suffering from hearing impairment.
Our recent milestone:
Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust organized a mobility camp in Leh-Ladakh in June 2017 in which 488 physically disabled patients were provided with Jaipur foot, calipers, prosthetic hands, crutches, wheelchairs and hearing aids for FREE. About our Disability program:
Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust has been a pioneer in organizing mobility camps across India for close to 15 years. In various cities throughout India, our mobility camps provide prosthetic legs, calipers, crutches and wheelchairs, thereby providing mobility and self-esteem to thousands of people who suffer from physical disability. We have done mobility camps in Leh, Vapi, Vishakapatnam, Jamnagar, Dhanbad to name a few. Till date, Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust has distributed about 2,52,577 mobility appliances for FREE.
Other projects and our partners:
We have a 30 member strong team who ensure that the well-oiled ecosystem across the various initiatives operates efficiently. The trust has recently won the Google Impact Challenge of Disabilities Award. We have developed a Ratna Nidhi Leg using 3D imaging & printing technologies.
We have launched the Mission Million Books initiative in partnership with the Alibaba Group with the vision to donate 1 million educational books to 10,000 schools and colleges pan India. World Bank is also one of our partners in this initiative.
3300 BEST buses of Mumbai carry our Make Mumbai Disability Free posters for FREE wherein they advertise the availability of customized Jaipur foot and calipers for FREE at our permanent medical center in Mahalakshmi.
